Kahn Oceanic Archaeology Lab (OAL)

The Kahn Oceanic Archaeology Lab (OAL) at W&M is a meeting place for research and collaboration about the archaeology of the Pacific Islands.

The OAL lab provides an interactive workspace with facilities and supplies for processing, analyzing, and curating archaeological collections. The lab houses a USDA permitted soils lab allowing forimportation of international soils for research use. Equipment includes numerous fume hoods, muffle furnace, sonic cleaner, computers, microscopes, balances, photography equipment and other tools and instruments.

Reference collections include shellfish, fishbone, mammal bone, terrestrial landsnails, macro-botanical remains, and wood charcoal from Polynesian contexts.
